In Virtual Worlds, boxing elements like custom enclosures, pipework covers, or ceiling features need to be correctly converted to appear in a 2D plan. If a boxing unit isn't visible, there are a few simple steps to ensure it displays correctly.
Converting a Boxing Element
Before a boxing element can be recognised in a 2D plan, it must be converted into an internal surface.
- Right-click on the boxing element (e.g. a cube from the Generic Architectural Elements catalogue)
- Select Create Internal Surface
- Generate a 2D plan, and the boxing should now appear correctly.
Ensuring Boxing Displays in a 2D Plan
If the boxing is still missing from the plan, check the following:
-
Check Symbol Settings:
- Right-click the boxing and select Properties and then Selected Properties
- Go to the Symbol Settings tab
- Ensure Display Item on Plan is ticked
- Right-click the boxing and select Properties and then Selected Properties
-
Check the Catalogue Settings:
- Locate the boxing in the catalogue
- Under the item’s settings, ensure the Symbol dropdown is set to Show
- Locate the boxing in the catalogue
-
Check the 2D Template:
- Go to the 2D Diagram view
- At the top of the screen, select the Bathroom Default template
- If using a custom template, click Edit and ensure that Architectural Primitive Geometries is ticked.
- Go to the 2D Diagram view
Note: We recommend using the Bathroom Default template, as it automatically includes these settings. Custom templates may behave differently. |
