In Virtual Worlds, your room design files are saved as .VWX files. By default, these are located in This PC > Documents > Virtual Worlds Documents. These files can be opened, copied or moved.
How to save a file
You can save a design file by clicking the Save icon:
You can also select File > Save, File > Save As, or press Ctrl + S on your keyboard.
If it is an existing design file, then the design will simply be saved.
If the design file is new, the Save As window will open. Here you will be able to enter a new File Name and then click Save.
Note: If you did not enter a Design Title in the Client Design Information window, then by default the design name with be DesignX which will be named in ascending numerical order, for example, Design1, Design 2 and so on. |
How to open a design file
To open a saved design file, at the Start Page, click Open an Existing Design:
Alternatively, if you are already in an open design file you can click the Open icon:
You can also select File > Open or press Ctrl + O on your keyboard.
The Open window will open. Here you can select an existing design and click Open.
Note: You can also open backup files by selecting File > Open Backup. In the Open window, you will see a list of date stamped files. For more information, see How to load a backup file and How to manage backup files. |
How to close a design file
To close the current design file and return to the Start Page, click the smaller x on the right hand side of your 3D View tab (1). To exit Virtual Worlds, click the larger X in the top right corner of your screen (2).
NOTE! Make sure you have saved your design before closing the window or exiting Virtual Worlds. |
How to copy a design file
To copy a design file to new location, for example an external drive or different PC, open Windows File Explorer and navigate to This PC > Documents > Virtual Worlds Documents. Right-click the desired .VWX file and select Copy. Navigate to the desired destination, right-click and select Paste.
NOTE! If you are copying a .VWX file to a different PC, the new PC will require the same catalogues as the previous PC. For more information on downloading catalogues, see How to add catalogues for download and How to download and install catalogues. |
How to rename a design file
To rename a design file, open Windows File Explorer and navigate to This PC > Documents > Virtual Worlds Documents. Right-click the desired .VWX file and select Rename. Enter the new file name and press Enter on your keyboard.
