If you're moving Virtual Worlds to a new computer, some files can be copied across to preserve your work and settings. Others will need to be reinstalled. This guide outlines what can be moved and how to do it.
Catalogues
Catalogues cannot be transferred between devices. They must be reinstalled on your new device via the Download Manager to ensure all data is properly registered and current.
Custom Packs & Groups
You can transfer your custom packs and groups. On your old computer, navigate to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Virtual Worlds\Catalogue
Copy any folders you've created here and move them to the same file path on your new machine.
| Note: If Virtual Worlds is installed to a different drive (e.g. D:), adjust the path accordingly. |
Custom Tiles
Custom tiles can also be transferred. Follow the same steps as for custom packs, and place them into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Virtual Worlds\Catalogue\tiling
This also applies to downloaded tile folders (e.g. Porcelanosa), which can be copied between machines as they do not rely on SQL records.
Design Files
Your design files can be copied directly like any standard file. Locate them on your old machine, copy them to a USB stick or cloud storage, and paste them into your preferred folder on the new computer.
Catalogue Installers
While it’s possible to copy catalogue installers from the Download Manager folder, we recommend downloading fresh installers on your new computer to ensure all catalogues are up to date.
