Version 8.7 of Virtual Worlds introduces the new Cycles rendering engine, delivering enhanced realism, faster performance, and simplified lighting workflows for high-quality visual output.
What is Cycles?
Cycles is a new photorealistic rendering engine built into Virtual Worlds. It removes the need for manually placed lights and produces more accurate lighting, reflections, and material handling out of the box.
- Real-time global lighting simulation
- No need for VR or photographic lighting
- Realistic shadows and surface effects
How to Use Cycles
Cycles is selected by default when generating a render. To use it:
- Open the Create Image dialog
- Select Cycles from the Render Engine dropdown (this is the default)
- Click Start to begin rendering
Note: To switch back to the previous render engine, select FinalRender from the same menu. |
Performance Benefits
Compared to previous rendering methods, Cycles produces higher-quality images in less time and with less configuration.
- Faster rendering, especially for frosted glass, brushed metal, and high-res output
- More consistent visuals across devices and projects
- Smaller video files in .mkv format
- Fully compatible with the Standalone Renderer (SAR)
