The general unit settings for dimensioning in Virtual Worlds Professional allow you to fine-tune how various dimensioning features are represented across your 2D diagrams. These settings help ensure that your plans and elevations meet specific requirements for any project.
Display Context Settings
The Display Context Settings determine where dimensions are displayed for your design components:
-
Display Dimension On Plan: Choose whether the dimensions should be visible on the plan representation.
- Display Dimension On Elevation: Choose whether the dimensions are shown on the elevation representation.
Configuration Settings
The Configuration Settings allow you to control the visibility and extension of both primary and secondary dimensions:
-
Primary Dimension: Controls the visibility and extension direction (left or right) of the primary dimension.
- Secondary Dimension: Allows you to manage the visibility and extension of a secondary dimension, ensuring detailed control.
Reference Point Settings
The Reference Point Settings allow you to determine the reference point for dimension measurements:
-
To Edge: Reference dimensions are taken to the edge of the unit.
-
To Centre: Reference dimensions are taken to the centre of the unit.
- Unit Defined: Reference points are defined individually based on unit-specific characteristics.
Position Settings
The Position Settings allow you to choose where dimensions are applied around a unit, both on plans and elevations:
-
Display At Perimeter: Dimensions are placed around the outer perimeter of the unit.
-
Display Free Standing: Dimensions are placed around the specific unit only, rather than the perimeter.
- Position On Plan/Elevation: Specify where dimensions appear on the plan or elevation (front, back, left, right, top, or bottom).
Consolidation Settings
The Consolidation Settings determine how dimension text should be presented:
- Promote Dimension Text To New Line: Moves dimension text to a new line, improving visibility and reducing overlap.
Witness Lines Settings
The Witness Lines Settings allow you to configure how witness lines are displayed in relation to other design components:
-
Clip To Perimeter: Choose to clip witness lines to the perimeter of the design for a more concise appearance.
- Extend To Unit: Select this option to extend witness lines to the individual unit for more detailed dimensioning.
