A new tool for Version 8.3, Lighting wizard consolidates all the lighting adjustment tools into one easily accessible window, greatly improving your rendering workflow.
Previously, there was no option to search for objects that emitted light in the scene graph. Now, all light sources placed in your plan are now listed and easily located in the Lighting Wizard. Lighting Wizard allows you to access all the light sources, the lighting properties, and environment light for your plan all from one location.
Access from the tool bar
In your 3D plan, click the new Lighting Wizard icon in the tool bar.
The Lighting Wizard has an Individual Lights and an Environmental Lights tab.
Individual Lights
The Individual Lights tab provides quick access to Scene Graph (light sources), Light properties and Render settings.
|
- In the Type drop down, you can select Point Light or Spotlight.
- In the Shadow drop-down, you can choose a soft or hard edge to any shadows the light creates.
- In case a light is too close to another object, you can toggle Show Light in Reflections on and off to improve the visual effect.
5. In the Spotlight area you can enter figures into the Cone Angle and Edge Blur fields.
- Entering information here further defines the spotlight selected in the Type dropdown.
- Edge blur can help produce more realistic lighting effects when used with soft shadows.
6. In the Area Light section, you can adjust the way the light emits from these specialist light sources.
Once you have made your changes to a selected light or group of lights, click Apply to save and continue making changes to other selections or Apply Close to save and close.
Environmental Lights
The Environmental Lights tab provides quick access to Global Light settings, Ambient light, VR light and Sunlight.
1. Global light settings allows you to toggle Shadows, Realtime Mirrors and Filament lighting on and off quickly.
2. In the Ambient light section, use the intensity slider to increase and decrease the brightness of all placed lights in the room.
3. In the VR Light section, use the drop-down to select which VR light you are adjusting. Then use the Intensity slider to adjust its brightness.
|
4. In the Sunlight section:
- Toggle Sunlight on and off
- Use Bearing, Elevation and Brightness to position how the sunlight shines into the room.
- Click the Colour button to select a hue for the sunlight.
Any changes made in the Environment tab will be automatically applied in the room.
How Sunlight Settings works
Bearing
Bearing controls the direction of the sunlight around your design, based around a 360-degree curve. Entering a figure between 0 and 360 will affect where the sunlight will shine into your room.
Elevation
Elevation is the height of the sun in the sky, based on a 90 degree angle format. The floor of the design is 0, and the highest point is 90. Entering a figure between 0 and 90 affects how much of the sunlight is shown in the room.
Brightness
Brightness affects how strong the sunlight is. 0 is no light, and 100 is the default brightness for realistic sunlight. Depending on your adjustments and choice of Colour, you can alter this to a much higher number.
Colour temperature
The lighting in Virtual Worlds can be adjusted by colour. Natural lighting can make your design feel more inviting and warm, whereas cooler lighting can create a more modern atmosphere.
You can change the colour of the sunlight to suggest the time of day, such as selecting a darker yellow/orange tone to to look like a sunset.
