Virtual Worlds provides a large collection of tile patterns that can be used to create your own custom tile templates. The collection includes essentials such as herringbone, half bond and checkerboard.
Once you have chosen the generic tile template and placed on a surface, you can then replace the sequence of the placeholder tiles with your chosen tiles.
Selecting a generic tile template
- View all installed tile template catalogues by clicking the Tile Template Selection icon in the One Touch Tiling toolbar.
- In the Tile Template Selection window, under Template Catalogues, select the Catalogue drop-down, expand Generic Templates > Templates and you will see the following template catalogues:
-
Non-Rectified Templates
These patterned templates contain tiles that are not rectified. A non-rectified tile has uneven edges and are more natural. Due to the variables of the tiles, they require a wider grout joint, and this catalogue accommodates this.
-
Rectified Templates
A rectified tile is one that has been through a mechanical process that straightens the tile edges and ensures they are perfectly rectangular. The two rectified template catalogues available are designed for tiles that can be laid with a specific 2mm or 4mm grout joint.

Left-click to select a generic catalogue then, under Available Templates, select the desired template pattern. The template preview will show the number of different tiles required. The pattern to be repeated is highlighted in white. The tiles required will be presented as letters, or as a ratio.
- Your cursor will change to a wall-brush icon and you can now left-click to apply the selected tile template to the desired surface.
Once placed, the generic template will use placeholder tiles as an example. These placeholder tiles can now be replaced with your chosen tiles. For more information, see Replacing tiles in a template.
