Tile catalogues will sometimes have specific templates and patterns to assist in placing specialist tiles. For example, a supplier catalogue may have a hexagonal tile, or the tile needs to be placed in a pattern of four. You can search for templates and patterns specific to a catalogue by selecting the tabs Templates, or Patterns when accessing the catalogue:
- Click the Catalogue tab in the right-hand assistant box.
- In the Category selection list, click Tiling.
- In the Tiling list, click to select the catalogue you want to use.
- The window will show what current tile is selected, and provide a range of parameters to assist your search. The Templates and Patterns tabs will be located at the top.
- For Patterns: Click the Patterns tab, then click the Search for pattern button to open the results. The visual examples will show one complete pattern of a tile. Scroll to locate the pattern and double-click to prepare for placement in the plan. Click on a surface in the plan to place.
- For Templates: Click the Templates tab, then click the Search for template button to open the results. The visual examples will be for a large surface area. Scroll to locate and double-click to place in the plan. If you have a surface selected, the template will automatically cover the area. If you have no surfaces selected, click on a surface in the plan to place.
- For Patterns: Click the Patterns tab, then click the Search for pattern button to open the results. The visual examples will show one complete pattern of a tile. Scroll to locate the pattern and double-click to prepare for placement in the plan. Click on a surface in the plan to place.
Selecting a single tile
In the example below, a single tile is selected. The type of tile it is means that if Tiling wizard is used, it would not tile correctly. The tile needs to be placed as a pattern. Although the tile could be rotated, selecting the tile’s pattern is more efficient.
Selecting the tile’s pattern
In the example below, the tile’s pattern is selected. It places a single instance of the pattern. The tile can now be applied in Tiling Wizard correctly as it is structured in a pattern.
Selecting the tile’s template
In the example below, the tile’s template is used. It places the pattern repeatedly over the whole of the surface area. This can also be adjusted in Tiling Wizard.
