Materials and textures help provide realistic representations of all objects in Virtual Worlds Professional. They determine how objects look and interact with the light, both in 3D and when rendered.
Materials
Materials define how the object renders and interacts with light in the plan. Standard options include matt, ceramic, polished, glass, gloss and chrome.
The following articles provide guidance on applying materials in your designs:
Textures
Textures define how an image or finish is applied to an object. For example, a wood finish .jpg file can be selected and then applied to an object.
The choice of texture will affect the visible quality of the material, and vice versa. For example, using a complex image texture with a chrome material will show little of the finish, and effect the lighting of the material in a render. In other cases, the texture may override the material due to the type of object it is.
