Virtual Worlds version 8.5 includes new features such as automatic reports of missing resources in designs, the ability to separate a shower tray from an enclosure and a streamlined license activation process.
The following Features and Fixes have been implemented to Virtual Worlds v8.5:
New Features
- Reports on any missing resources, for example, catalogues, models or images, in a design before opening it. This gives you the chance to install those resources or to cancel opening the design.

Optimisations and compatibility with the EQ integration.
Note: An EQ upgrade will be required.
- A number of improvements to shower enclosure and shower tray functionality:
- You can now click and drag a shower enclosure by selecting the shower tray.
- Shower trays can now be separated from the shower enclosure.
- Shower enclosures can now be added to a design before shower trays, without affecting the enclosure height.
- Simplifies the process to activate a machine or dongle licence.
- When starting a new design, the Client Design Information and New Design - Layout pages have been updated with a new look.
- Renames some common controls:
- Hi Res image > Real-Time image
- Add to Surface > Create External Surface
- Convert to Surfaces > Create Internal Surface
Fixes
- Fixes an issue with shower trays and enclosures, where trays would insert below floor height.
- Fixes an issue with shower trays and enclosures, where dragging the tray would move it away from the enclosure.
- Fixes an issue with grout, where – having changed a tile applied on a wall – the grout could appear in front of the tiles.
- Fixes a crash in the Texture dialog when enquiring on a custom tile texture.
- Fixes an issue with green geometries appearing from taps and showerheads.
